Asiasoft Announces Profits and Dividend Pay-out Amid Sluggish Economy
Bangkok, Thailand – 5 March 2008 – AsiaSoft Corporation Public Company Limited (SET: AS) disclosed that the company’s performance for the year, ended 31 December 2008, posted a net profit of 185 million Baht. In Thailand, net profit improved 15.6% as compared to the previous year 2007. Other offices in the region saw a decline due to higher management costs to accommodate future business expansions.
“Overseas revenue realization fails to meet their targets even though overall performance was quite satisfactory,” said Mr. Pramoth Sudjitporn, CEO of Asiasoft Corporation PLC. “2009 will be a challenging year as this industry will be closely watched by many amid the financial crisis. Asiasoft is prepared to enter the online gaming market in Philippines and hopes to make Singapore an online service hub for the region.”
Asiasoft is not affected by the present economic and political situations when compared with other businesses. Provision of online entertainment requires low overhead costs and is highly accessible to everyone. Currently, the company is in discussions with gaming copyright owners to offer their content as part of the services provided through Singapore to customers in the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
“We will continue to seek new investment opportunities on the Internet platform as they could be supportive businesses for our overall online game operations. We have projected revenue target to reach at least 20% for 2009,” he added.
Earlier, Asiasoft declared dividend payments worth 0.63 Baht per share to shareholders. The dividend payment was first made on September 5, 2008 at 0.31 baht per share. The remaining dividend worth 0.32 baht per share will be paid out during the second half of this year.
