21st July 2008, Singapore – The excitement for the online gaming community will begin as AsiaSoft Online Pte Ltd (“AsiaSoft”), the leading publisher of Massively-Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) in Southeast Asia, hosts its first-ever AsiaSoft GameFest. The massive gaming event, held from the 1st to 3rd August 2008 in Singapore, is a celebration of all the games published by the company, with exciting on-site tournaments and in-game competitions for a record amount of S$100,000 in cash and prizes.

The three-day mega gaming event kicks off with the official launch of Richman Online, AsiaSoft’s latest online casual title that was first previewed by in late June by anticipating families and players. Set in a wacky fantasy world of wealth and capitalism, Richman Online pits vibrant characters against each other in a Monopoly-style rat race of wits and speed to earn the biggest bucks and become the ultimate tycoon! This fun and educational title will open with a bang with the Richman Online ‘I am a Millionaire’ tournament, held at Marina Square, Central Atrium, Level 2 on 1st August 2008.

Another highlight of the AsiaSoft GameFest is the GetAmped World Festival, an international gaming competition that will see contestants from 13 different countries gathering in one place on 2nd August 2008. The GetAmped World Festival is the first online gaming tournament of its kind in Singapore, where contestants will slug it out in GetAmped’s several old school arcade fighting modes and fun, sporting soccer and basketball challenges.

“The AsiaSoft Game Festival brings about many firsts for AsiaSoft, particularly the hosting of such a massive gaming tournament such as the GetAmped World Festival,” said Mr Sherman Tan, Chairman of AsiaSoft. “We are proud to be hosting the GetAmped World Festival in Singapore for the very first time and we truly hope this international event will boost the gaming scene in Singapore and strengthen ties within the gaming community in Asia.”

Other activities within the AsiaSoft GameFest include the search for grand champions in the final rounds of ongoing AsiaSoft game competitions in Singapore, namely the “Audition Clubber of the Year”, the Cabal “Rise of the Champions” Individual Player vs Player (PvP) Battle and the “MapleStory Monster Carnival Showdown”. Preliminary rounds for these competitions have started in July, and players who make it to the finals will battle it out to win their respective game championships, along with attractive cash prizes and exclusive premiums.

In midst of the celebration and competition, AsiaSoft has also banded with its game developers from Korea and Japan to remember and contribute to the beneficiaries within our community. As part of its first fundraising activity for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Singapore (“MDAS”), the AsiaSoft’s adopted charity, the company will work closely with game developers CyberStep, KOG Studios, Nexon Corporation, Yedang Online Corporation and T3 Entertainment, to develop special MDAS in-game items for players to purchase in support of the association.

“AsiaSoft is firmly committed to giving back to the community and we are pleased to have our game developers on board in our contribution to MDAS,” said Mr Sherman Tan, Chairman of AsiaSoft. “Our gamers have also shown much warmth and support in our previous ‘Gamers Love Sports’ and ‘Gamers Care’ initiatives, and we believe that our joint efforts will make this a meaningful campaign to share the joy of gaming and community with MDAS.”

“It is our great pleasure and honor to participate in such a meaningful event with AsiaSoft, and we will try our best to assist AsiaSoft to give fun and joy back to society through the new industry of gaming,” said Mr Nam Chul Kim, Chief Executive Officer of Yedang Online Corporation.

MDAS is excited and impressed by AsiaSoft’s ingenious fund-raising concept. We hope that gamers and netizens in the Southeast Asia region will join AsiaSoft in supporting our cause,” said Dr Yee Woon Chee, President of MDAS.

Currently in production, the specially designed in-game items will include cosmetic accessories for players to dress up their game avatars and to express their support for MDAS. All profit proceeds from the in-game item sales will be donated to MDAS at the end of 2008.
