Official Launch of Sudden Attack in Malaysia
21st March 2009, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Asiasoft Online officially launches Sudden Attack at Hotlink Games & Anime Festival 2009, Berjaya Times Square, KL. The festivities included mini tournaments, lucky draws and stage activities during the four day event (19th – 22nd March 2009).
The main highlight of the activities was the Hotlink Sudden Attack Tournament rewarding players with more than RM10,000 worth of cash from Asiasoft Online and prizes from our esteemed partners Razer and Hotlink. Even though registrations for the tournament commenced only on 21st March (Saturday), eager participants flocked to the registration booth on 19th March (Thursday) in hope to secure a spot for their squads to get a shot at the attractive cash prizes. Team ‘Puggies’ emerged as Champions and walked away with RM4,000 in cash, RM400 worth of Hotlink top up and a Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse each. Team ‘4k.Crew’ bagged the 1st Runner up Prize of RM3,000 and Team ‘3sMasterz’ walked away with RM2,000 as 2nd Runner-ups.
To commemorate the launch ceremony, an exhibition match between Singapore and Malaysia Sudden Attack Teams was held. Representing Malaysia, Team ‘P.U.G’ members Grifter, Mash, Nitron, Fions and Zeal are familiar names in the FPS community, with numerous achievements and awards since year 2001. Some of their gaming track records include WCG Champions 2001-2005, ESWC Champions 2004, CGS Malaysia Representatives 2007-2008 and most recently, WGT Champion 2008. Team ‘P.U.G’ emerged as winners of the exhibition match.
For those who didn’t come with a full team, they tried their luck at the Solo Matches held on the 19th, 20th and 22nd March. The winners for the Solo Matches walked away with RM50 worth of Hotlink top up and a Razer Salmosa gaming mouse. On the last day, a total of 21 teams participated in the ‘Beat the Asiasoft Sudden Attack Team Match’ where Team ‘>elmoworld<’ beat the Asiasoft team by one point to win RM250 worth of Hotlink top up, Razer Salmosa Gaming Mouse and bragging rights.
Hotlink Sudden Attack Tournament is just one of many initiatives Asiasoft Online has planned for the year, many of which are already scheduled to roll out a week after the launch. This includes National Championship leading up to Country League Championship in the second quarter of the year.
“We are investing a significant amount of cash and prizes to develop a pool of professional talents in the local gaming scene,” says Keith Long, Country Manager of Asiasoft Malaysia. “These talents would have the opportunity to represent Malaysia in international Sudden Attack e-sports tournaments”.
This is one step towards Asiasoft Online’s goal to put Malaysia on the e-sports map alongside countries with established professional gaming scenes such as Japan, Korea, China, the US and Europe.
