Over 10,000 visitors attended the gaming festival held at Iluma in Singapore on 5 and 6 June 2010.

9 June 2010, Singapore – Even before the Asiasoft Games Festival 2010 (“ASGF 2010”) officially opened at 11am on 5 June 2010, eager gamers had slowly trickled in, some as early as 6.30am, to catch an early preview of what this year’s festival has to offer. Queues were seen snaking around the offline cash shop as well as the redemption booth, as gamers waited in anticipation to buy special cash bundles and redeem free MapleSEA (http://www.MapleSEA.com) EvanDragon Master Class in-game items, only available exclusively at the event.

Now in its third year running, this annual gaming festival organised by Asiasoft Online (“Asiasoft”) saw plenty of new game content being featured for the first time. Monster Forest (http://www.MonsterForestSEA.com), the latest 3D MMORPG developed by 9you Information Technology Co. Ltd and published in Singapore and Malaysia by Asiasoft, helds its official launch on 5 June with celebrity ambassador Kanny Theng live on stage!

The Monster Forest game demo booth was also teeming with curious gamers who queued to try out the game for the very first time. Gamers who created their free Monster Forest game accounts and completed the Monster Forest tutorial on site each received a brightly coloured handphone strap and a cute, fluffy miniature plush toy of Grassy Goat, one of the pets found in Monster Forest.

Another highly popular booth was the MapleSEA booth, where visitors could try out the newly released Evan Dragon Master Class, and play mini games to win exclusive MapleSEA 5th anniversary edition mousepads. It was a journey back to yesteryear with the featured mini game “5 Stones”, and many young visitors were seen playing it for the first time and with determination, as they tried over and over again to receive the mousepad. Another mini event that was widely popular was the “Amazing Race” event, which received great participation from many Maplers to win never seen before premiums!

The Evan Dragon Master Class was officially launched with a big bang on 6 June, much to the delight of many Maplers who specially turned up for the event. The launch also marked the 5th anniversary of MapleSEA in Singapore, which was marked with a symbolic celebration with a cake cutting ceremony!

Maplers of all ages also gathered for the “Mystery Merchant” event, which was organized by a team of loyal MapleSEA fans. During the event, players brought albums and boxes full of Asiasoft @Cash Pre-paid Cards (“PPCs”) to trade collector cards with one another. This was the first meet-up of its kind and was met with great enthusiasm as players queued all day to trade PPCs and to mingle with fellow gamers.

Other than the two major game content launches at the festival, gamers also had their spot of adrenaline rush with the recently launched RayCity (http://raycity.playpark.net/), the online racing MMORPG developed by EA Seoul Studio. Mini races were held at the RayCity game demo booth as cheers of excitement filled the air, and some racers even upped their game by racing 1-on-1 onstage for fantastic prizes!

Online dancing game Audition (http://www.AuditionSEA.com) also treated visitors to an exclusive preview of its upcoming Guitar Mode, which proved well received with gamers queuing up to try their hand at the new mode and living their dreams of being a rock star with each “strum” of the game’s guitar controller!

It was an intense battle for SuddenAttackSEA as the teams fought till late in the evening for the top prize, as well as the chance to compete in the finals of the Malaysia Regional Tournament for the grand prize of up to RM50,000 in cash and prizes.

The festival’s offline cash shop saw long queues that lasted throughout the event, as exclusive sets of the MapleSEA Evan Class PPC bundles and keychain plushie sets, were quickly sold out by noon each day. All AP Reset bundles were also immediately sold out on the first day due to overwhelming response. Other exclusive premiums such as the Asiasoft @Key security device were also snapped up by visitors!

Based on the number of goodie bags issued and sales made, ASGF 2010 logged more than 10,000 visitors over two days in Singapore alone.

“We are very privileged to have the ardent support of our gamers and partners, all of whom played a big part in making the third Asiasoft Games Festival a wonderful success!” said Mr Sherman Tan, Chairman of Asiasoft. “We are very encouraged by the players’ overwhelming response to the upcoming new content featured, and we look forward to bringing more games, more activities, more tournaments and more value to all our gamers!”

The Asiasoft Games Festival 2010 continues its fanfare in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah on 19 and 20 June 2010. For full details of the festival highlights, please visit http://www.playpark.net/asgf2010/.
